The collaboration of the talented bunch led to the formation of the famous group called Groovement under the independent label known as Earthseed. She collaborated with a group of local artists from Atlanta after forfeiting her academic studies. She felt confident at this point in time because of her childhood experience of singing in the church's choir. Soon after realizing her musical prowess, she decided to forfeit her jewelry designing course at Savannah to pursue a career in music. She also developed her songwriting skills while at Savannah College of Arts and Design. She developed an immense emotional connection with the guitar after mastering it, as it was the first instrument she could sing along with. She mastered guitar while studying at Savannah College of Arts and Design. One instrument that has inspired India the most is the guitar.
Joyce took the children to Georgia, Atlanta after her divorce from Ralph when India was 13 years old. It was Joyce who took care of the children after her divorce from Ralph. Joyce, who is now India's stylist, has been a source of inspiration for India.
